This accession includes court transcripts and exhibits, drilling permit applications, and management plants documenting the litigation over oil drilling in the Pigeon River Country State Forest in Michigan. (The Pigeon River Country is located in Otesego, Cheboygan, Presque Isle and Montmorency counties.) The litigation dates from 1973 to 1980. The chief litigants were the Michigan Oil Company and the Michigan Department of Natural Resources. The result, the development of oil and gas resources in certain parts of the area was permitted. Includes the minutes of the Pigeon River Country Advisory Council and material documenting public hearings.
